Amy Hunsberger’s interest in healthcare runs deep. After completing her undergraduate degree in finance and adding an MBA, she began her professional career as the Director of Marketing and Planning for the 400-physician faculty practice plan at UTMB in Galveston, Texas. She then served in a similar role at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston before returning to law school. After completing her law degree, Amy joined the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, Office of General Counsel in the CMS Division, working as legal counsel for the agency that administers the Medicare and Medicaid programs, as well as the Affordable Care Act. She has served in this role for the past 18 years and, among other responsibilities, currently leads at team of a dozen attorneys who review rulemaking for the annual Medicare Physician Fee Schedule regulation.
Amy’s commitment to community service runs similarly deep. Recently, Amy served on the 2018 Wine, Women & Shoes auction committee. Her current hands-on philanthropy frequently revolves around her hobby decorating cut-out cookies with royal icing. Amy decorates cookies each month with the teens at Teen Services Sonoma. She and Andrea Ballus (Sift Dessert Bar) donated a super-fun “Bubbly and Sweets” cookie and cupcake decorating class as a buy-in for the Wine Women & Shoes event. Amy and her husband Chris are residents of Windsor.
