Gary Barth

Through his medical practice and volunteer work, Gary has been demonstrating the Healthcare Foundation’s values of community, compassion, and equity for years, both here in northern Sonoma County and around the globe in India, Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia, Nepal and, starting this year, in Bangladesh. Gary has devoted the better part of his life to helping people all over the world improve their vision and go on with their lives secure in the gift of sight. He played a central role in the development of a world-class ophthalmology community in the North Bay, founding the Eye Bank of Sonoma, Pacific Laser Eye Center, 4th Street Laser & Surgery Center, and the Eye Care Institute. In 2021, he moved his surgical medical practice to Healdsburg, allowing rural clients greater access to his services. Gary has served on medical and nonprofit boards locally and nationally, including Pacific Foundation for Medical Care, Redwood Health Services, Catholic Charities, PRASAD Project, and Seva Foundation. Gary’s involvement with the Healthcare Foundation began in 2021 as a principal sponsor of our Gala and as a Healthcare Hero sustaining donor. Gary has one son, age 31, and lives with his wife of 43 years in Santa Rosa.
