Community Health Workers/Promotores
Community health workers or promotores de salud act as trusted health messengers and liaisons in underserved communities. Healthcare Foundation supports many community-based organizations that deploy promotores as critical links to conduct culturally relevant, Spanish-language and bilingual outreach to Latinx and Indigenous clients and community members, including for county-wide Covid vaccine outreach efforts. Promotores, in turn, bring back questions and concerns from the field that help community-based organizations and healthcare providers better tailor their efforts to the needs of the community.
We are grateful to our generous donors and Partnership HealthPlan of California for supporting our work with community health workers/promotores in our vaccine outreach efforts.
