Board Member Spotlight: A Conversation with Paul Greenall

1.5 min read. Paul Greenall, who joined the Healthcare Foundation board this year, offers his thoughts on the Foundation's work.

We are delighted to share the following conversation with Paul Greenall, who joined the Healthcare Foundation Board earlier this year.

Paul is Chief Executive Officer of the innovative digital pharmacy and care platform Truepill, and comes to the Healthcare Foundation as an experienced growth strategist and operating executive with deep expertise in healthcare delivery and technology.

Originally from London, Paul discovered Sonoma County soon after relocating to California in the early 2000s. Captivated by its beauty and its people, he tells us he spent the following 15 years trying to find a way to live here full-time. Finally, five years ago, he and his partner settled in Healdsburg and he hasn’t looked back.

“I truly believe it is one of the best places to be in the world,” says Paul. “I always tell people the importance of loving where you live. I love where we live.”

What drew you to serve on the Board of the Healthcare Foundation?

I have worked in healthcare my entire career, spending most of my time in primary care and community pharmacy. I was drawn to the Foundation because of the clarity of the health equity mission, and the direct impact we are able to have on our local communities. This was an opportunity for me to directly contribute to the community in which I live and work. Our community partners and program leaders are doing work that is mission-critical to the health and wellbeing of our county.

“The biggest barrier to access currently is the shortage of providers. The Foundation addresses this head-on through the Mental Health Talent Pipeline program. I truly believe this program is a model that can be rolled out nationally.”

Paul Greenall, Board Member

What do you consider the most pressing challenge and greatest opportunity we have in terms of advancing health equity?

Access to high-quality mental health care continues to be a nationwide issue. I know from working in underserved communities across the state that failure to care for the whole person has an outsized impact on their general health and the life of their family. The biggest barrier to access currently is the shortage of providers. The Foundation addresses this head-on through the Mental Health Talent Pipeline program. I truly believe this program is a model that can be rolled out nationally.

What do you most appreciate about being a resident of northern Sonoma County?

I find true joy in the natural world around us each and every day. I appreciate the community we live in, and the kindness I am always shown. I find hope in the sheer intensity with which the Healthcare Foundation’s staff and supporters care about the health equity mission — there’s nothing you can’t accomplish through integrity and commitment.
