The Healthcare Foundation provides scholarships to the Health Occupation Preparation Education (HOPE), an innovative program at Santa Rosa Junior College that supports first-generation, low-income or disabled students pursuing degrees in the medical field. HOPE students are often the first in their families to attend college. HOPE provides students with career counseling, assistance with applying for scholarships, and a study center where students receive support from staff. HOPE organizes field trips to four-year colleges and arranges for mentors within the medical community. HOPE addresses the dire need for local bilingual, bicultural medical providers: 90% of students from the program go on to work at clinics and hospitals in Sonoma County.
We are grateful to Medtronic for supporting our HOPE scholarship program.
