The Healthcare Foundation provides scholarships to the Health Occupation Preparation Education (HOPE), an innovative program at Santa Rosa Junior College to support the success of underrepresented and first-generation students pursuing healthcare careers. HOPE students are often the first in their families to attend college. HOPE provides students with career counseling, assistance with applying for scholarships, and a study center where students receive support from staff. HOPE organizes field trips to four-year colleges and arranges for mentors within the medical community. HOPE addresses the dire need for local bilingual, bicultural medical providers: 90% of students from the program go on to work at clinics and hospitals in Sonoma County.
